Geoffroy’s Tamarin Monkey

Scientific Name: Saguinus geoffroyi
Territory : Costa Rica to Panama

Another monkey species that inhabits in the Santuario Lapas Natuwa is the Geoffroy’s Tamarin Monkey, also known as the Panamanian Red-Crested or Tamarin Monkey. This is one of 17 species of the genus Saguinus (Tamarin monkeys). This monkey lives naturally in the forests from Costa Rica to the North of Colombia. Some scientists in Costa Rican have started to classify this species as the fifth monkey species in Costa Rica, as they have already cross the national boundaries between Costa Rica and Panama through the National Friendship Park.
