Scientific Name: Ara macao cyanoptera.
Territory: From the north of Costa Rica to Mexico
The Ara macao cyanoptera is a subspecies, living from the North of Costa Rica until Mexico. You can consider Costa Rica a fortunate country to have two subspecies of scarlet macaws, the cyanoptera in the north of the country and the macaw of the Pacific slope.
In some countries they are referred to as the Nicaraguan macaw.
